What is the weather policy for DC Bike Ride? Does it take place rain or shine?

DC Bike Ride will take place rain or shine! Biking can be fun in all types of weather.

We recommend you keep watching the weather as it gets closer to the event, and plan to wear the appropriate clothes. We suggest wearing a jacket, dress in layers to keep warm and wear moisture wicking clothing. If you have a bicycle fender, don’t forget to bring in just in case. Regardless of the weather, be prepared to still have a lot of fun!

Additionally, event and public safety officials will be closely monitoring the weather in the hours leading up to the event. If officials make the call for the event to be delayed or put on hold, we will communicate it immediately via stage announcements, police cruisers along the course, email and social media. If necessary, we will delay the event until it is safe to resume, and then continue as planned.

We also shared a Weather Update letter with all registrants on Thursday, May 17, with tips for biking safely in wet conditions. Read the letter HERE.

A safe event is our top priority.
