DC Bike Ride is a closed-road, car-free bike ride that traverses 20 miles of DC streets past monuments and memorials. DC Bike Ride is a non-competitive scenic bike ride that culminates with a Finish Festival in front of the U.S. Capitol. The event raises support for WABA to make streets safer for all.
When is DC Bike Ride?
DC Bike Ride 2018 will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018. The ride begins at 8:00am and riders must be in their start corrals prior to 7:45am. The post-ride Finish Festival will go until 1:00pm.
Are there age restrictions?
Children must be 3 years or older to participate. Children in the age group of 3-7 are FREE and must ride on a child bike seat, tagalong bike, tandem bike, in a bike trailer or in a bike cargo. Youth riders in the age group of 8-13 must be accompanied by an adult at a 1:1 ratio. The ride does not require a 1:1 ratio for youth riders in the age group of 3-7. Can I transfer my registration to someone else if I can't come?
Yes! Registrations are transferable, but NOT refundable. If you would like to transfer, please follow the instructions here. Please note, there is a $10 transfer fee imposed on the new rider.
Can I get a refund for my registration if I can't attend?

Can I upgrade my standard registration to the VIP option?

Can I upgrade my registration to include packet mailing?
Yes! Here’s how you do it. Keep in mind, you must complete the electronic waiver via DocuSign before your packet can be mailed.
How do I get my email confirmation resent?
Email [email protected] or call our hotline at (888) 521-3227. We’re happy to resend your confirmation email. Be sure to check your junk/spam folder for the email.
Are electric bicycles allowed?
No. However, special needs bicycles, such as a pedal-assist bicycle, are allowed.
Can I access the course after the ride starts?
No, all riders must begin at the Start. Please arrive before 7:45am to get situated in your corral.
Can I ride the course more than once?
No, we work closely with police and traffic enforcement to create the rolling closure to provide registrants with the car-free ride. The road opens back up after the last rider. The course is not designed to be ridden more than once.
How do I know which corral I'm in?
You choose which corral you would like to be in based on your biking ability and preference. Corrals are self-seeded or self-designated based on your riding experience. All registrants select advanced, intermediate or beginner during registration. For reference: advanced is about 14mph-18mph; intermediate is about 10mph-14mph; and beginner is about 6mph-10mph. All riders must maintain a 6mph and no riders can go faster than 18mph.
Where is the DC Bike Ride held?
The ride covers 20-miles of DC roadways, crossing the Potomac River for a pit stop in Virginia before returning to the District.
The Start Line is at West Potomac Park (100 West Basin Drive SW, Washington, DC).
The Ride Finish and the Finish Festival are between the U.S. Capitol Building and the National Mall (300 Maryland Ave SW, Washington, DC).

Where and when is Packet Pickup?
Please stay tuned for location and timing information for the Packet Pickup Party in Washington, DC on Thursday, May 17 and Friday, May 18. We plan to announce the details by early March.
Can you mail me my rider identification kit?
Yes, new this year we offer a packet mailing option. To select and purchase packet mailing, you will choose registration plus packet mailing during the registration process HERE. Packets will begin being mailed out in early April.
Already registered and want to add packet mailing? Click HERE to upgrade your registration to one that includes packet mailing. Registrants who purchase packet mailing will receive their packets in the mail starting in mid-April.

Will there be morning of Packet Pickup?
No. You must attend Packet Pickup, send a proxy to Packet Pickup or purchase packet mailing.
What happens after the ride ends?
The ride ends at the DC Bike Ride Finish Festival! The festival is open to all participants and spectators and will be located on 3rd St SW between the U.S. Capitol Building and the National Mall (300 Maryland Ave SW, Washington, DC). The Finish Festival is free and open to the public, so please invite those who didn’t participate to meet you after the ride and join in on the fun! More information about the festival and entertainment lineup is coming soon. We expect to announce the entertainment line-up in mid-March.
Is lunch provided for the riders at the Finish Line Festival?
Food and beverage options will be available for purchase. We partner with some of DC’s most popular and delicious food trucks for the festival. VIP Riders will receive a catered lunch in the VIP tent that comes with their VIP registration.

Do you offer travel options and accommodations for riders?
Yes, we do! Please visit our parking page HERE for information on planning parking ahead of time at a surface lot or garage near the start and finish, as well as directions for driving to the start area.

Can I volunteer for the ride?
Absolutely! We have volunteer roles available at Packet Pickup and at the ride (the Start, Finish and out on the course)! All volunteers receive a Ride Crew t-shirt, snacks and drinks. Click HERE to sign up to volunteer!
Can I purchase DC Bike Ride merchandise online?
Yes! There is a limited number of merchandise items available to purchase when you REGISTER for DC Bike Ride.
You can also visit the Official Merchandise Shop HERE to purchase items online. Items will arrive to your mailing within 7 to 10 days of purchase. Jerseys take slightly longer to process and will ship in late February.
Can I purchase DC Bike Ride merchandise at the event?
Yes, the DCBR Shop will be open for business will all merchandise items for sale at the Packet Pickup Party on Thursday, May 17 and Friday, May 18. The DCBR Shop will also be at the ride Finish Festival.
What if I ordered merchandise and it doesn't fit. Can I exchange the size?
