DC Bike Ride Proceeds
DC Bike Ride is proud to support our local community by donating a portion of the event proceeds to local nonprofits’ initiatives. Thanks to DC Bike Ride participants, the event has donated over $200,000 since its first edition to organizations like the Washington Area Bicyclist Association, Fruitful Planet, the Wounded Warrior Project, among others.
Graduation on Wheels is our newest initiative in support of our mission to make cycling more safe, fun, and inclusive for all.
On June 6, 2024 at Kenilworth Parkside, 210 students from seven DCPS schools were awarded their very own bike, helmet, and lock for graduating from the Health and Physical Education’s (HPE) Biking in the Park program established in 2015, which teaches every second-grader how to ride a bike as parr of their curriculum. DC Bike Ride also awarded all recipients, their families, and teachers with Ride Passes to the 8th annual DC Bike Ride on Sept 7th, 2024 to take their new wheels for a spin.
Sponsor a Rider
DC Bike Ride strives to be inclusive and, with your support, along with the DC Department of Parks and Recreation and #FitDC, our scholarship program sponsors participants who would otherwise not be able to join the ride. Joining us in this mission, #FitDC matches donations through registration dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000!
Since 2017, we have raised over $30,000 and sponsored over 1,000 DCBR participants in one of the region’s premier community bike events. For questions about the program, please email [email protected].
PEDAL FOR A PURPOSE
Since 2020, Pedal For A Purpose has invited riders to share their bike rides to support food insecurity initiatives serving DC’s marginalized communities. Nearly 80,000 bike rides have been logged in over the past four years by an amazing cycling community committed to building opportunity.
Pedal For A Purpose is made possible by CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, which has contributed over $100,000 to the program.
Join the 5th annual Pedal For A Purpose from May 9 to September 7 and make a meaningful impact on our community.
